Air Force Base Security

Keeping base security cameras rolling.

DYESS AIR FORCE BASE

SITUATION

  • In March 2021, TRAXyL was requested to install a FiberTRAX link to keep an existing security camera system operational at Dyess AFB that was about to lose its network link due to construction.
  • New construction would disable a security camera system for several months.
  • Installing a traditional, temporary, below-ground conduit system to allow the system to remain operational was cost prohibitive. An aerial option was also unavailable

TRAXyL Solution

  • Using a TRAXtor, we installed a 12-strand FiberTRAX cable over 95 feet in less than one hour, enabling security camera system to remain operational.
  • Provided a rapid, quick-turnaround fiber on-demand installation.
  • Enabled uninterrupted use of camera system.
  • The project was originally conceived, approved, and implemented over a 3-day period.

Airport Rental Car Facility

Making fast connections at the airport.

FIBER LINK EXTENSION – DULLES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

SITUATION

  • In Oct 2019, a Prime contractor needed to install a fiber link between two rental car buildings at a major airport.
  • Fiber link required ASAP due to contractual schedule requirements, budget was limited.
  • Permitting process to dig on airport property was extensive, expensive, and would take too long.
  • Digging or micro-trenching also posed safety issues, in order to avoid potentially dangerous underground elements (i.e. fuel tanks).

TRAXyL Solution

  • Two FiberTRAX links totaling 650 feet in length were installed during a single overnight installation.
  • Links were connected between the buildings to extend the network.
  • No shutdown of rental car operations at the site.
  • No lost revenue for the rental car facilities.
  • Prime contractor achieved schedule milestone and avoided major project cost delays.

Apartment Community

Making life less complex at an apartment complex.

ISP Network links – Greenville, SC

SITUATION

  • In May 2019, an ISP was installing a buried fiber-optic cable network to connect 36 buildings at an apartment complex.
  • After ten months, the project faced a major delay and significant cost increases.
  • Installing a buried fiber cable risked damaging a poorly documented underground water utility.
  • Available directional drilling companies were hesitant to bid, or submitted excessive bids.

TRAXyL Solution

  • FiberTRAX turned an obstacle, the road, into a fiber pathway.
  • Installed four road crossing links, totaling about 460 ft in length, in one day.
  • Shrunk the project schedule to meet deadlines.
  • Enabled revenue flow to the ISP months earlier than if conventional method used.
  • Avoided shutting down roads or impeding residents access to their buildings.

Bridge to Cell Tower

Providing a last mile and middle-mile solution.

Bridge to Cell Tower Connection – Ohio DOT

SITUATION

  • In November 2020, a town in Ohio needed to install optical fibers across a bridge for a new property developer to connect to a cell tower.
  • Directional drilling under the river was cost and schedule prohibitive.
  • Conduit suspension under the bridge was schedule prohibitive due to permitting difficulties.

TRAXyL Solution

  • Deployed four 24-fiber cables, two on each side of the bridge, in two days.
  • Total length was 2,240 feet.
  • Minimal lane closures, bridge remained open.
  • Fiber services available to residents in new development.
  • FiberTRAX proven a last-mile & middle-mile solution, with redundant pathways and reserve fibers installed in place.
  • Contractor began to see revenue from the project the following month.

Army Base Security

Yet another on-demand security camera needed.

ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS – VICKSBURG, MS

SITUATION

  • In March 2021, a military base in Vicksburg needed a new network link to a remote camera system.
  • Impossible to perform conventional underground or aerial
methods due to costs, schedule and construction complexities.

TRAXyL Solution

  • Using the TRAXtor, 460 feet of 12-strand FiberTRAX cable was installed in less than one hour.
  • Provided ultra-quick turnaround fiber on-demand installation.
  • Eliminated the need for lengthy planning.
  • Eliminated the need for additional resources and time to identify underground utilities.
